Tips to make Keto-friendly Protein Donuts

  1. Make sure you use good quality protein powder, instead of relying on refined flour, to reduce carb content of the dough.
  2. In case you want a simple tasting donut, go for Vanilla Whey Protein Powder for the dough, as they do not taste overpowering at all. These donuts are moist and simple, without tasting too much like artificial protein powder.
  3. If you prefer vegan donuts, use plant-based protein powder, such as NOW Foods Vanilla Plant powder. The only issue when using this plant-based powder is that the donuts come out a little bumpy, instead of being smooth like when you use ordinary protein powder.
  4. Instead of using sugar, go for healthier natural alternatives such as stevia.
  5. Also, if you want something more natural, you could opt to use maple syrup or honey in the mixture.
  6. Another great powder you can try out, instead of regular flour is Egg White Protein Powder, which also tastes great. In case you opt for this powder, the only other ingredients you will need are egg whites, and 2 tablespoons of oil to make sure the batter comes out smooth.
  7. Also, the other great thing about making these protein donuts is that they can be made in different ways. You can change up the recipe however you want to create separate batches that contain different ingredients. Get creative with your recipes and add your favorite tidbits to the batter such as fruits, chocolate chips, nuts and sprinklers.
